"Eye of the Hurricane" is the first featured single from Daniel Crabtree's next CD release, "Storms in the Ocean." It is a powerful song based on true events. The lyrics are a moving and heartfelt tribute to the victims and survivors of Hurricane Ida. Still, it also serves as a broader reflection on the resilience and strength of those facing nature's forces head-on. This song captures the human capacity to find hope and unity amid tragedy through its evocative storytelling and poignant melody.

Daniel Crabtree's "Eye of the Hurricane" is a powerful addition to an album that explores the trials and triumphs of the human experience, reminding us of the unwavering spirit that can emerge even in the darkest times.

Eye Of The Hurricane

Daniel Crabtree When Ida came in on the streets of Queens Everybody knew she was gonna be mean For the people who lived in the Burroughs It would be another day to add to their sorrows

They cried take me to the eye of this hurricane Where the wind don’t blow and there ain’t no rain Take me to the eye of this hurricane Where there ain’t no death and there ain’t no pain

Thirteen died on a day to remember Remnants of a hurricane in early September Trapped below the rising water The life taken of a mother and her daughter

They cried take me to the eye of this hurricane Where the wind don’t blow and there ain’t no rain Take me to the eye of this hurricane Where there ain’t no death and there ain’t no pain

A scream cried out Help Me, Help Me Water pourin’ in like a broken levee The woman went under couldn’t open the door They’d never seen anything like it before

They cried take me to the eye of this hurricane Where the wind don’t blow and there ain’t no rain Take me to the eye of this hurricane Where there ain’t no death and there ain’t no pain

When Ida came in on the streets of Queens Everybody knew she was gonna be mean

Song and Artist Bio

Singer and songwriter Daniel Crabtree released a new exclusive song, "Cold Harbor." Daniel has written a powerful song based on a true story of one of the most deadly battles in the American Civil war.

The track is a team effort; it was produced by engineer and famous banjo player Scott Vestal, along with respected instrumentalist Cody Kilby and veteran songwriter Daniel Crabtree at the Digital Underground Studio.

"In the song, I tried to imagine some semblance of what it must have been like. The final victory was won by Lee's army during the war. The Union army lost ten to thirteen thousand men over twelve days. I penned these words to commemorate the battle and the lives lost during our history. Let us not forget the price that's been paid so that we might live as one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all."

  • Daniel Crabtree.

Daniel just released his chart-topping album "Closer Than I've Ever Been." He released a stellar fourth album, The Way I See It. Crabtree wrote all 13 tracks and has become one of the celebrated singers/songwriters in today's gospel, roots, and bluegrass music. His songs embrace the human spirit through clever lyrics, for which Daniel Crabtree's writing is known. The project combines secular and spiritual songs produced by award-winning artist/songwriter/producer Donna Ulisse. Once again, the tracks were recorded and engineered by the multi-talented Scott Vestal.

Daniel's recent accomplishments include recognition by the Independent Music Awards, which named "Piedmont Train" as the "Best Bluegrass Song of 2019," and a nomination by the International Acoustic Music Awards for "Best Bluegrass Song" ("Sally Sunday").

Famous bluegrass artists Larry Sparks, Valerie Smith, and others have recorded his songs.

Recently, the gospel songs recorded by Sparks, "Don't Take Your Eyes Off of Jesus" and "All Over Me," have been charted on Bluegrass Today. Daniel's "He'll Change Your Life" charted on the Gospel Bluegrass Today Charts in 2021.

His first two albums were original gospel songs. "I recorded two full gospel projects first because I felt that was my strongest material," Daniel says. His next album was secular material. His fourth album, The Way I See It, combines secular and gospel songs. Donna produced all four of the albums. Daniel records at Scott Vestal's Digital Underground Recording Studio in Greenbrier, Tennessee.

"Most of my songs are from personal experiences," Daniel says, "but some are completely made up from my imagination." Expect a new complete project, "Storms on the Ocean," from Daniel Crabtree soon

Bluegrass singer and songwriter Bobby Giles offers a new gospel single, "Glory Train," from his upcoming album, "Music of Life." The song arises from his deep connection with God and his childhood fascination with the trains coming in and out of the depot in his hometown of Amarillo, Texas.

The lyrics of "Glory Train" are based on the scripture in 2 Corinthians 5:8, We are confident, I say, and willing rather be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

The bluegrass vocals and harmonies by Bobby, Jim VanCleve, and Carl Josefy are rich and smooth, creating a soulful bluegrass sound of an authentic train horn. The virtuosic combination of acoustic instrumentation showcases the award-winning talent of Jim Van Cleve on the fiddle and the sweet smooth resonator guitar track from Rob Ickes. The song's driving beat, laid down by bassist Lenny Nichols feels like riding on a fast train to the glory. Banjoist Steve Loggie along with the crisp mandolin backbeat of Carl Josefy adds energy to this bluegrass gospel song. Overall, Bobby Giles has created a true evangelical foot stomper and handclapper!

Digging deeper into Bobby's lyrics, we find ourselves standing with him beside the railroad tracks as a child. His Dad served as a conductor on the Santa Fe Line in Amarillo, Texas, for several years, and many other family members also worked for the railroad.

Bobby, his brother, and his cousin would ride their bikes down to the depot to watch the trains roll in and out of town. In the days before Amtrak took over the passenger rail business in the United States, Bobby would sit on the benches under the high-arched entranceway. He would eagerly await the arrival and departure of the San Francisco Chief, which ran for over 2,000 miles between Chicago and San Francisco.

Bobby recalls overhearing two oldtimers discussing the demise of the San Francisco Chief. One of them asked, "I wonder if the Glory Train is gonna look like that?"

"Picturing a train bound for glory, filled with God's chosen ones, is somethin' most anybody can identify with. The song "Glory Train" is a testament to our hopeful and certain progression from our temporary life on earth to our eternal residence, as well as an invitation to 'come on and ride'--All Aboard!" - Bobby Giles, Singer and Songwriter.

The instrumental on the album this one showcases the band’s fantastic instrumental abilities. “This one I feel took the most work arrangement-wise. Robert brought this one to the band in early 2021. Touring hadn’t kicked back in yet, but we were playing 4 shows a weekend as a trio at The Purple Fiddle in Thomas, WV. At that point in the pandemic, we weren’t allowed to sing at venues in West Virginia, so we had to come up with two hours of instrumentals. Robert showed us this one, saying “Yeah the A part is in 9 and the B part is in 4, oh, except where it goes back to 9.” Alex and I just looked at each other. We went through a lot of different arrangements, but nothing ever felt quite right. One afternoon, I was messing around with it, and I thought, what if instead of a 9 feel I just put it to a bluegrass rhythm? Well, it worked. Then I thought, what if we make the 9-part a three-part round? Now, that part took some more arranging, but it worked! This is one of my favorite songs on the album to play live. It’s super fun to play, and I’m proud of how this one turned out.” -Jack Dunlap

Bell Buckle Records presents an instrumental upbeat, driving featured single, "Fling Ding," from Larry Effaw's latest album, "The Old Home." The song is a classic Ralph Stanley number that showcases the virtuosic instrumental skills and styles of his band, The Missouri Mountaineers. Their first feature single from the album, "Torn Love," was a song penned by Larry's father, Edward Efaw.

Larry Efaw started playing the mandolin at the age of 7. He soon joined his father's band, Edward Efaw, and the Bluegrass Mountaineers. Larry had many opportunities to join national bluegrass bands over the years, but he stayed loyal to his dad. Ed continued to play through his 80s and only recently retired from performing on stage. During Larry's musical career, he has appeared as a guest with Dailey & Vincent, Rhonda Vincent, Dr. Ralph Stanley, Doyle Lawson, Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, Del McCoury, the Lewis Family, and Goldwing Express, to mention a few. Larry has since recorded several albums and is currently releasing his 10th project through Bell Buckle Records, "The Old Home."

Larry has won numerous awards and championships, including Ray Hover, Bluegrass Man of The Year, Kentucky Colonial, and 1st place Ohio State Mandolin Champion at the State Guitar Championship.  Larry is one of the most respected men in the bluegrass music industry. In 1987 he started promoting bluegrass music in Ohio. Larry and his wife of 38 years, Lisa, have promoted bluegrass music in Perrysburg and Greenwich. They have also been event producers for First Quality Cruises, Travel-Bluegrass Cruise, Maumee Bay Bluegrass Festival, Lake Wapusun, Play Pen Park, Clay's Park, Paradise Lakes Park, and the O.J. Work Auditorium at the Springfield High School for over 20 years.  During his career, he became great friends with Dr. Ralph Stanley. Ralph performed on several of Larry's C.D.s.  The Bluegrass Mountaineers are Adam Burrows (Fiddle) and his wife Mikayla Burrows (Upright Bass), Logan Leab (Acoustic Guitar), Curtis Coleman (banjo), and founding member Larry Efaw (Mandolin).     The Bluegrass Mountaineer's live show offers a variety of music to their audiences by mixing their show with elements of the Louvin Brothers, the Lewis Family, the Osborne Brothers, Lester Flatt, Jimmy Martin, and the Stanely Brothers, and many others.

Artist and Song Bio Encouraged by the successful release of their first single, "In Tennessee," Bobby Giles & Texas Gales, in conjunction with Jim VanCleve, producer-performer of "Appalachian Road Show," and Valerie Smith, the owner of Bell Buckle Records, present their second bluegrass single, "Chicken Run." Singer, songwriter, and performer Bobby Giles has had great success with his first release, the album "The Music of Life," scheduled for release in the early Fall of 2022. "As a young boy growing up in Texas, Sunday dinners at the family farm were highly popular. My grandmother, Little Mama, awarded aunts, uncles, cousins, and even some lucky neighbors the best-fried chicken ever made. She was an incredibly adept chicken ring-necker, deliberate and effective. The chicken coup was out by the barn, but lots of those birds would hang around the back door, which, unfortunately, was attached to the kitchen. If we arrived early enough, we would have ringside seats to Carson County's most popular spectator sport starring Maybelle Burns. She'd hit that screen door with a purpose, and brother, the hunt was on!

We know that the prize is eternal life, and I'm nearer now to heaven than I've ever been." - Daniel Crabtree Closer Than I've Ever Been is Daniel Crabtree’s latest gospel project. It is his fifth album, consisting of 10 original songs written by Daniel. He has thus far released three singles from the project: "John the Baptist," "Closer Than I’ve Ever Been," and “Would You Be a Soldier,” which charted on the Bluegrass Today Gospel Charts as well as the Roots Music Report. Daniel once again teamed up with award-winning singer/songwriter Donna Ulisse to coproduce Closer Than I've Ever Been. The tracks were recorded and engineered by the multi-talented Scott Vestal at his Digital Underground Recording Studio. A standout group of musicians brought the melodies to life, including Vestal on banjo, Cody Kilby on guitar, Gaven Largent on dobro, Patrick McAvinue and Jason Carter on fiddle, Harry Clark, and Jesse Brock on mandolin, and Evan Winsor and Mike Bub on acoustic bass.  In addition to releasing his own music, Daniel has had his material recorded by famous bluegrass artists such as Larry Sparks and Valerie Smith. Sparks' renditions of "Don't Take Your Eyes Off of Jesus" and "All Over Me" reached No. 1 on the Bluegrass Today chart.  Daniel launched his singer/songwriter career in 2016 with the release of his first album, The Gospel Road. His follow-up projects — 2017's In the Shadow of His Wings, 2019's The Storyteller in Me, and 2021's The Way I See It — have been a mixture of his two passions: gospel and bluegrass music.  Daniel's recent accomplishments include recognition by the Independent Music Awards, which named "Piedmont Train" as the Best Bluegrass Song of 2019, and a nomination by the International Acoustic Music Awards for Best Bluegrass Song ("Sally Sunday").
